How to make DIY E-juice?

One of the few disadvantages of using e-cigarettes is the cost of e-juice. Many vapers prefer to buy premium e-juices online or from brick-and-mortar stores near their neighborhoods after finishing their e-juice. However, the prices of these products are so high that some vapers cannot afford to buy these expensive e-liquids. Or even worse, the vape stores don’t have the nicotine levels they like. So how can we solve these problems? Don’t worry. You can make high quality homemade DIY e-juice if you follow the guide below.

Step 1: Find a reputable source of supplies.

There are many options out there to get you started. What you ideally want to find is a site that sells a beginner’s kit that includes nicotine base, PG, VG, and the flavorings so that you aren’t having to source them all out from different vendors.

Generally, your beginner’s kits also come with the measuring and mixing apparatuses you need. Personally, I recommend NicVape as a great starting place. They allow you to customize the flavorings you get and give you a fairly comprehensive kit that includes several different size bottles as well to get you going.

There are also other options that don’t require you to calculate your nicotine levels with premised bases at the nicotine levels you desire for your end result.

Step 2: Gather your supplies.

Now that you have ordered your supplies, it is important to make sure everything is sterile and clean and that you have everything set up before we start.

Your supplies should include something to mix your juice in, several syringes with blunt tip needles, bottles to contain your mixed juice, a clean surface to work in, rubber gloves to protect your hands/skin, and several paper towels or lint free cloths to soak up any spills.

I have found that cloths like these work amazing at cleaning up spilled or leaked e-juice and you can just throw them in the washer with your laundry after you have used them and they get saturated.

Step 3: Decide on your nicotine level. 

When deciding your nicotine level, it’s important to think about what type of vape mod you are going to be using. Is this a single or dual coil mod? Are you going to be vaping at sub-ohm or not? Typically, when vaping sub-ohm devices, you want to have much lower levels of nicotine due to the larger amount of e-juice you will consume.

Once you know what your nicotine level will be, we will then figure out how much nicotine base to add to the juice. To find this out, you want to take the amount of juice you will be making, multiply that by the level of nicotine you are targeting. So if you are making a 50 ml batch at 6 mg/ml, we get 300 mg total nicotine.

Then you take your total nicotine and divide that by the strength of your nicotine base. So if you need 300 mg of nicotine as seen above and your base is 50 mg/ml, you will need 6 ml of nicotine base. If you are using a base of 100 mg/ml you would only need 3 ml of base.

Step 4: Add flavorings. 

Then we choose the type of flavorings we want. This is wholly dependent on you but most people generally use between 10%-15% of flavorings in their e-juice. So again if we are making a 50 ml batch that would be between 5 ml-7.5 ml of flavor concentrate. Most flavorings come in PG as a carrier so be sure to include that in the proper side when determining your PG/VG ratio.

Step 5: Add VG and PG. 

After you add the nicotine base and the flavoring, now you want to add the remaining VG and PG to your proper ratio. So using our 50 ml example at a 70/30 VG/PG ratio you would want to add 35 ml of VG and top the rest up to 50 ml with PG to make your total 50. After that its simply bottle and store in a cool dark place to steep for a couple weeks and then enjoy your new batch of e-juice!
