The Innokin Proton Mini Ajax kit is a smaller new version of the Proton saga. Both the mod and the tank can be purchased separately. The full kit comes with the following items:

The Innokin Proton Mini Ajax Mod

Innokin is a popular vape brand for manufacturing good quality products for beginners. The Proton Mini Ajax mod inhereted the design of the previous version. However, the dual 18650 replaceable battery is now gone. Instead we get in this mod a 3400 mAh built-in battery. The device is able to reach a maximum output power of 120W. In addition, the Proton Mini supports temperature control, TCR, wattage curve, bypass mode, and 3 coil memory slots.

The design of this mod is almost identical to the previous version. Innokin just added an internal battery and reduced the size which is now 87 x 102 x 39mm. The result is a super compact, yet powerful mod, with an ergonomical design that feels great in hand.

The Innokin Proton Mini Ajax Mod Continued

The Proton Mini has a power bar instead of a traditional fire button located in one side of the mod. This is one of the main reason why this mod feels so comfortable. No need to press any button with your thumb, just squeeze the mod between your hands!

The body of the Proton Mini is made in zinc alloy and it feels very solid and it is equipped with a large 1.45 inch TFT color screen. Unlike other mods, the Proton Mini has joystick at the button to change your settings. The mod is easy to navigate and you have plenty of working modes to use any type of tank on it.

The device is monitored by the Proton Chipset. I have used this one before and it is a reliable chip which also fires almost any type of coil instantly.

The Proton Ajax Sub-Ohm Tank

Now let’s examine the Ajax sub-ohm tank. This atomizer comes with a 5ml bubble glass, and there is a spare included as well. The Ajax sub-ohm tank features a slide top-fill as many other tanks in the market.

The coils are easy to remove and replace by unscrewing the base and just pulling them out. There are two coil options to choose from. The pre-installed one is a 0.16-ohm Plex-3D Matrix coil rated 50-80 watts.  Innokin also includes a 0.35-ohm Plex 3D coil rated 35-55 watts. If you are not familiar with Innokin coils, then let me tell you that the Plex3D coils are this brand’s version of mesh coils.

The drip tip looks good and fits the mod perfectly, and the threading is nice and smooth on it. The bottom airflow control ring is smooth and easy to adjust. When fully open it feels very airy, but this is actually a pro if you are into cloud chasing.

Any e-liquid ranging from 50 to 70 VG concentration will be good to use with this tank. Maybe even higher as the coils seem to be draining thick e-liquid properly. In my opinion, best performance will be achieved with the 0.35 ohm coil at 55 watts.

The Innokin Proton Mini Ajax targets vapers that want a good starter kit to begin with. The retail price is $70-80. This product is a pre-order in most vape shops and so far it is available in the following colors: Green Demon, Black, Nebula, Crystal Blue, Pink Chrome, and Sunset.

The Innokin Proton Mini Ajax mod is a well-constructed vape mod. Although the tank is not bad at all, there are better alternatives out there. I would recommend the mod, and even getting the full kit, if you have some other tank options at home. The performance of the coils is not the best, but for the price you pay for the full kit you get a reliable mod and a tank.

Overall, I really like the design and build-quality of this mod. The compact size and performance is also a pro. A serious option to considered if you are looking for a powerful and comfortable small mod.
