The vape manufacturer Kizoku just launched the Techmod 80W at the International eCig Expo celebrated last weekend in Shenzhen. After releasing the Kirin semi-mech mod, now it is turn for a new single coil mod with a completely new design. The Kizoku Techmod features a side by side mod with a very innovative industrial style. Would you like to find out more about this mod? Then let’s unbox the Techmod!
Unboxing the Kizoku Techmod

The Kizoku Techmod comes in a carton packaging and it includes the following items:
- Techmod 80W
- Type-C charging cable
- User Manual
- Warranty Card
The 18650 battery is not included in the kit. The Kizoku Techmod is available in 4 different colors: White, Black, Gun Metal and Black & Gun Metal. So far, the Kizoku Techmod is only available individually. But I guess this vape brand will release a full kit along with the Limit MTL RTA very soon.
Design and Build Quality

The Kizoku Techmod outstands for its unique and innovative industrial design. Although side by side mods are not a new trend, Kizoku managed to come up with an original design by showing some parts of the mod in stainless steel while others are made in zinc alloy. This half-stainless steel half-zinc alloy body design gives the Techmod a beautiful industrial and modern appereance.

Unlike regular box mods, side by side mods integrate atomizers in one side of the mod instead of the top. Hence the name. This mod design has one obvious advantage: the atomizer achieves better protection and the glass becomes harder to break. However, not all atomizers will be suitable for the Techmod. They might be too short or too big in diameter.
Nonetheless, the Techmod offers wide compatibility with most RTAs in the market as it can fit any tank up to 24 mm in diameter. Measuring 78 mm in height, 49 mm in length and 24 mm in witdh, the Techmod has a compact size that also brings a comfortable ergonomic grip.

The device easily fit in the palm of your hand. The first thing you will notice when handeling this device is the high quality materials used when manufacturing. It doesn’t feel cheap at all!
Kizoku Techmod Main Features and Specs

Powered by a single 18650 battery, the Techmod is able to reach a maximum output power of 80W. This mod features a battery compartment similar to a tube mod with a top screw cover that is partially opened for the air to circulate inside.
The power button is located on one side of the mod, next to the atomizer section. Down below, we find a 0,91 inch OLED screen. The Kizoku logo shows up when clicking the fire button 5 times. Inside the navigating menu, we can switch between 4 working modes (VW, VV, TC and Bypass) by clicking the fire button 3 times. Easy peasy!
On the other side of the mod, we find the type-C charging port. Some vape manufacturers are slowly replacing old USB ports for this relatively new technology, and so did Kizoku by adding 2A fast charging to its first regulated mod. This is not a must in a mod powered by replaceable batteries as it is always better to charge them externally. But it is always a nice extra to have.
The Kizoku Techmod also features 0.001 instant firing, which is something I really appreciate in a mod as it must be highly responsive. In addition, this mod has of the safety features you might expect such as overheat, overcurrent and low-voltage protection.
Kizoku Techmod pros and cons
Now that we are familiar with the Techmod, it is time for me to let you know some positives and negatives of this device.
Pros
- Original design and beatifully constructed
- Great build quality, specially considering the price (60$)
- Fast Type-C charging
- Intuitive and easy to use
- Good color selection. Easy to match with almost any tank.
Cons
- Not suitable for RDAs and more than 24 mm atomizer in diameter as they will be too short or too big to fit in any side by side mod.
- The opened cover for the battery allows water in. So you must be careful with it or your batteries will be ruined.
Final Thoughts
All in all, I trully think the Kizoku Techmod is a good choice if you are looking for a modern, yet smart side by side mod. It outstands in terms of build quality and it is a great single battery mod for both mouth-to-lung and mild direct lung vaping.
I paired it with the Limit Renaissance RTA and Unlimit RTA, the latest two rebuildable tanks with dual use from this brand. It is a perfect match for the Limit RTA (and any other MTL tank) with any coil ranging between 0,5 and 1,2 ohms.
The mod can handle any lower resistance though (I used it with a dual coil on the Unlimit reading at 0.16 ohms), but do not expect a single 18650 battery to last all day long with dual coil.
The Kizoku chipset monitors the energy of the battery adequately and you will experience stable wattage until the very last puff.
The Kizoku Techmod is a reliable single coil mod with cracking design. It is not cheap, but yet affordable and a great match for almost any RTA and subohm tank. If you fancy purchasing a side by side mod to add to your vaping collection, then I recommend this one!
